Menu Descriptions

The menus provide access to application commands.

The Baker menu provides access to the About, Register, Preferences, and other commands.

The About Baker... menu item will display a standard dialog box that provides version information.

Register Baker... This command will open a window where you can enter, edit, and view your registration information.


Tip 8 - Viewing Registration Information

To find out what you user name and registration key are, all you have to do is selcted Register Baker... from the Baker menu. See the screen shot above.

The File Menu provides access to commands used to open, close, and save your Baker documents.

To create a new Baker document select the New command.

To open a Baker document, select the Open command.

Tip 9 - Baker Documents and the Database

Your Baker documents store all of their information in the Baker database. This means that you should not Option+Copy your Baker documents using the MacOS Finder. Instead, open the document and use the Save As... command under the File Menu. See the screen shot above.

The Edit menu provides access to the standard Cut, copy, and Paste functions.

Screen Shot 35 - The Utilities Menu

The Utilities menu is where you will find access to the MasterSplitter Utility and the Error and Event Log. The MasterSplitter Utility lets you join files that have been segmented using the Windows-only application titled "MasterSplitter". The Error and Event Log is used to view detailed information on what Baker is doing, to generate log files for your personal use or for tech support, and to set the Avoid Error Dialogs option.

The Filter Menu lets you unfilter the last author you filtered. When you click the Filter button on one of your Baker documents, you create a filter that ignores any future posts by the offending author. The Unfilter Last Author command lets you remove the filter without having to open the Filter Manager.

The Filter Menu also lets you open the Filter Manager. The Filter Manager is the window you use edit, create, delete, and otherwise modify your filters,

The Window Menu lists all of the open windows. To bring a window to the top, select its name from the Window menu.

The Help Menu provides access to online documentation. You can aslo download a stand alone MacOS Help Center Book that will integrate with the OS X Help System. Unlike the online version available through the Help Menu, the Baker Help Center Book is fully searchable.
