Adding
a News Server
Baker allows you to add as many news servers as you like. Each news server
will appear in the News Servers list and will be available to any Baker
document. To add a news server, simply follow the procedure below.
Procedure
10 - Adding a News Server
- Launch Baker if it
not already running.
- Open a Baker document
or create a new one.
- Click on the News
Servers menu and select the New... command.

- Enter the address
of your news server. This is generally something like news.[your_ISP].com.
So, if you use earthlink as your Internet Service Provider (ISP), then
your news server address will probably be news.earthlink.com. If you do
not know the address of you news server contact your ISP and ask them.
- Most news servers
require you to log in with a user name and password. Enter your user name
and password into the appropriate fields.
- Do not alter the
Port value as 119 is the standard port for news server communications.
If your news administrator tells you to use a different port, then you
should enter thenew port value into the Port field.
- Click the OK button.
- You will be returned
to your Baker document and the new server you just added is now available
in the pop-up menu.
